Crisantemi
Puccini was born in 1858 and is considered one of the greatest Italian opera composers. His early works are very clearly romantic in outlook, but his mature work has style of its own and clearly has links to the 20th century, whilst still being clearly romantic in style.
For most, he is known only for his later operas, which all date from the turn of the century or later.
Criasantemi (or Chrysantemums) was originally written for string quartet and dates from 1890 and is a charming piece of late romantic writing.
